Snowfall - Houdini

Hi! Moving into simulations inside Houdini in this new course at the school Visual Magic. This was my first time simulating inside Houdini. It was an interesting workflow which is very different from what I am used to. It was also the first time using Redshift for rendering. Besides being much more complex than what I am used to, it is a beautiful rendering engine and I know I have a lot more to learn. The key takeaway from this assignment is optimization. Using an “attribute delete” before my cache node and removing all unnecessary attributes from the simulation saves A LOT of disk space. So much so that my final cache with 25x more particles than my unoptimized preview cache took up 40% less disk space than the preview cache. But I still need to figure out which attributes are needed. In conclusion, this has been a fun project to work on that I learned a lot from and I am looking forward to learning more about simulations and Houdini in general.
